California Polytechnic State University, (Cal Poly), has a Continuing Education and Outreach Program with a wide range of online courses.  To see a complete list of what online courses are currently being offered go here: www.continuing-ed.calpoly.edu/courses/.  Keep in mind that this list may change when a new semester starts.

Choose an online course from a variety of disciplines, including: Business and Professional, Computers and Software, Education, Medical and Healthcare, and more.  Click on the discipline that interests you to see specific online courses that are currently being offered.  Each class has a title and a brief description. It also lists information about the cost of the class, when it will begin, and how much college credit a student who completes this class will receive.  These online courses do not require on campus meetings, which makes it very convenient for the distance learner who does not live near the campus of Cal Poly.

Business online courses include topics like Six Sigma, Grant Writing, eBusiness, Management for IT Professionals, and Entrepreneurship.  Educators can find online courses on Advanced Classroom Management, Educational Assessment, Reading Fundamentals, or Violence in Schools.  Choose from several online courses about how to teach students with different learning disabilities, traumatized children, or children who are Gifted and Talented.

Take an online computer class on Video Game Art and Design. There are several online courses offered by Cal Poly that have to do with Microsoft.  Brush up on AutoCAD, get certified in something new to you, or become a Webmaster.  The online Math courses are offered through Omega Math, which is a detailed individuated system proven to help students learn math.  Take an online math course on Basic Math and Pre-Algebra, A Beginning Algebra course, An Intermediate Algebra course, or one on Plane Geometry.

Healthcare professionals can take online courses on Billing and Coding, HIPPA Compliance, Medical Terminology, or Medical Transcription.  Some classes are composed of more than one subject, which can be helpful to a student who is already familiar with the topics, and interested in a refresher course.  There is a course for people wanting to become an Administrative Dental Assistant, and another course on becoming a Veterinary Assistant.

I was surprised to find that Cal Poly offers online courses in Art and Design.  It’s difficult to locate online courses in Art.
